Costa Mike Karakos

Costa Mike Karakos, age 75, of the Greshamville Community died Monday, May 26, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones.  He was born in Tarpon Springs, FL on September 24, 1938, the son of the late Mike Karakos and Mary Roberts Loumakis Karakos.  He graduated from Hoke Smith High School in Atlanta, GA in 1956. That same year he joined the Army National Guard and was a member for twelve years. On April 11, 1959 he married Nancy Lee Powell. They have been living in Greshamville for the past thirty-three years moving from Doraville, GA.  For thirty-five years he was the foreman for Stein Printing Company retiring in 1996.  He enjoyed deer hunting and growing a garden.
 
In addition to his wife of fifty-five years, Nancy Karakos of the Greshamville Community, he is survived by a daughter, Mary Bruce of Greshamville; two sons, Zack Karakos (Sandy) of Newnan, GA and Terry Karakos of Greshamville; two sisters, Cathryn Karakos of Fayetteville, GA and Barbara Loumakis of Douglasville, GA; seven brothers, Zack Karakos of Rome, GA, Jimmy Karakos of Virginia, George Karakos of Tarpon Springs, FL, Terry Karakos of Forsyth County, Nick Loumakis of Fayetteville, GA, Chris Loumakis of Gwinnett County and Angelo “Coco” Loumakis of Fayetteville, GA; six grandchildren, Jason Bruce, Tommy Bruce, David Bruce, Jr., Tina Karakos, Costie Karakos and Victoria Karakos; and sixteen great, great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a great grandchild, Costie Marina Karakos and his brothers, Mike Karakos and Johnny Loumakis.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Karakos Family Cemetery, 1681 Reid Duvall Road, Madison, GA 30650 with Rev. Bob Willis and Zack Karakos officiating.    McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
