Constance Oliver Obituary

Constance Oliver, 75 years old, born February 23, 1947, departed to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, December 17th, 2022 at 7:50 PM.

Connie’s passing found her lovingly encircled by her three children, each with their spouses, and her beloved partner Phillip Johnson present, as well as her dearly loved Labrador Retriever, Ollie-Dog. Ollie dedicatedly slept with Connie on her bed until she journeyed over to her Heavenly Father.

Connie is survived by son Steven Dennis Had, (wife Suzanne Shonda), daughter Denise Had Hammond, (husband Kenny), daughter Aimee Had, (spouse Blake), her four grandchildren; Hunter and Colton Hammond, Max and Lauren Had. Treasured niece of Carol and the late Honorable Richard Markus of Cleveland, Ohio. Former wife of Dennis Had, of Cary, NC.

Connie is preceded in death by her husband the late Tom Oliver, of Reynold’s at Greensboro, GA. She was daughter of the late Bernard and Marion Tuthill, of Cleveland, Ohio.

Constance Oliver grew up near the shore of Lake Erie, in Euclid, Ohio. As a child she enjoyed sitting on the pier, watching the distant horizon as exciting storms rolled into view. Connie’s childhood love for animals, horses in particular, lead to her raising a family among three dogs and three horses ongoing, in the charming village of Hudson, Ohio. Both Connie and her daughters became very skilled and passionate for the Equestrian Hunter-Jumper-Dressage horse showing circuit, as well as participating in fox hunting on the grounds of the Firestone estate, not too far from her family’s home. Connie encouraged her children’s hobbies, which lead to her son building a speed boat by hand in her garage, as well as her son operating his own tractor-repair business while still a teenager.

Connie developed an interior design business in Raleigh, NC through the 1980’s. Her love for fashion, art, and home design found her thriving in this field. Connie traveled to design markets across the southeast, applying her skills in gorgeously decorated homes in the Raleigh vicinity.

Connie’s life was filled with world travel, to both near and distant lands. Her passion for all things culinary lead her to the vineyards of California. She was fascinated by elephants, giraffes, and lions while on safari in Africa. Connie swam the open waters lapping the shores of the Galapagos Islands. She brought her family to the monkey filled rainforests of Costa Rica, as well as to snowy regions of Alaska. Years ago she danced under the open sky in the Greek Isles, and traveled to the azure waters of the Mediterranean. River trips were among her top favorites. Connie was ecstatic to have paddled white water rapids of both the Grand Canyon, AZ as well as the mighty Zambezi River in Africa. Recent travels with Phil found her unbelievably enthralled by walking villages and trails where Jesus Christ also walked, so many centuries ago.

Connie’s most recent years have had her bursting with joy, as she and her new dog Ollie, entered and completed a Dog Therapy training program, in which they became a licensed and actively practicing dog therapy duo. Connie and her “furry son” Ollie attended nursing homes, and the local boys’ and girls’ club, allowing Ollie to gently share his care and love to those needing it most.

Connie’s life within her Reynold’s community has been abundantly filled with fun activities, among wonderful friends whom she adored. Connie loved art, music and dancing so very much. It was common to receive a text-video on yet “just another regular Tuesday,” where Connie and her partner Phil would be seen swirling across the dance floor. Book club was also a top favorite. Book discussions among friends kept her mind enthralled, sharp, and open to exploring ideas ongoing.

Connie was a wonderful chef, cook, and baker always. Her family ate pesto atop pasta prior to anyone having seen “green spaghetti sauce” ever before. Memories of freshly baked cinnamon bread can nearly be smelled by her children this very December week.

Connie was a devout believer in Jesus Christ and lived her life as a follower of Christianity. She loved her family and friends intensely, and lived life to its absolute fullest. She will be missed and loved ongoing forever. We wish Constance peace eternal in her new Heavenly home, as we carry on her spark and zeal for life always.

A Life Celebration will be held at a location to be determined, within Reynolds, Greensboro, GA. February 23rd, 2023 at 4:00 PM.
