Clifford Grover Allen, of Eatonton, GA, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, GA, at the age of 68. Born in Bainbridge, GA on August 6, 1952, he was the son of Margaret “Libby” Grover Allen of Bainbridge, GA and the late Clifford Dixon Allen. He attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College where he met his future wife, Norma Charlene Fallin of Thomaston, GA. He went on to graduate from Valdosta State University with an Accounting degree. Grover and Charlene were married on June 2, 1973. Grover owned and operated a successful commodities brokerage company, Southern Commodities where over the years all of his business partners and clients were also close friends. The Allen family resided in Thomasville, Albany, and Waycross before moving to Macon in 1994 and to Eatonton in 1999. Grover was very active in the Lake Oconee community, and was an active member of the Lake Oconee Elks Lodge. Grover attended Rock Springs Church in Macon, GA. Grover considered his close relationship with his family his largest priority and his biggest accomplishment. He was a beloved son, beloved brother, beloved father to his children and beloved Papa to his six grandchildren. When he could, he enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his mother, Libby Allen of Greensboro, GA; daughter, Meredith Allen Janka (Nick) of Grand Prairie, TX and son, Brent Allen (Sissy) of Forsyth, GA; sister, Margaret Ann Parker (Bob) of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren, Blake Eubanks, Dillon Eubanks, Colson Janka, Carlie Allen, Connor Janka and Campbell Janka; other relatives and many friends.
A private family service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Grover’s residence, 214 Whitney Street, Eatonton, GA 31024 with Rev. Craig Walden officiating. Interment will be Saturday afternoon, October 24, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Valley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 1372 Atwater Road, Thomaston, GA 30286. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
