Clifford O'Neal (Wheeler) Simons

Clifford O’Neal Wheeler Simons of Crawfordville, Georgia died on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at the age of 88. A lifelong resident of Crawfordville, she was the daughter of the late Macon Millner Wheeler and Christine O’Neal Murden Wheeler. She was a graduate of Alexander Stephens Institute in Crawfordville, GA. On December 14, 1959 she married David Otis Simons in McCormick, SC. Clifford spent her working career at Chipman Union in Union Point as a salvage coordinator retiring in 1998. Clifford was a longtime member of Margaret's Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School.  Click as she was known by her family and friends was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother with many friends.  In her spare time she loved to crochet.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Simons McCullough of Statham, GA; her son, Tim Simons of Woodville, GA; sisters Sylvia Camp of Griffin, GA, Marilyn Osborne (John) of Union Point, GA, Elaine Nunn of Crawfordville, GA and Jenny Carter (Derrel) of Douglas, GA; brother, Macon Sidney Wheeler (Nancy) of Stevensville, MD; four grandchildren, Jimmy Simons (Jessica) of Jefferson, GA, Curtis Simons of Woodville, GA, Shane McCullough of Athens, GA and Chloe McCullough of Valdosta, GA; two great grandchildren, Payton and Presleigh Simons and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Simons in 2010 and by her daughter, Tina Simons in 1986.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Margaret's Grove Baptist Church, 1791 Margaret's Grove Road, Crawfordville, GA 30631 with Lamar Nix officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Jimmy Simons, Curtis Simons, Shane McCullough, Chloe McCullough, Paul Jackson, Herbert Rhodes and Bob Watson. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until time for the service at Margaret’s Grove Baptist Church. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
