Charles Arthur “Ottie” Brown, age 82, of Madison, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at his home surrounded by loved ones. A native of Greene County, Ottie was born in the Greshamville Community on January 22, 1942. He was the son of the late Chalmers Lee Brown and Alpha Ruth Greeson Brown. He grew up in Greene County and graduated from Greensboro High School. On June 24, 1962, he married the love of his life, the former Julie Sue Cronic. Ottie was an excellent carpenter working for Humphries Local Union 225 until he retired in 2005. They lived in Tucker, GA from 1965 to 2007 and then they moved to Madison, GA. His favorite saying was “Hang In There.” He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Madison, GA. Ottie loved The Atlanta Braves and was a big Georgia Bulldog and NASCAR fan. Working in the yard was his favorite pastime. He was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, neighbor and friend and will truly be missed.
Survivors include his wife of nearly sixty-three years, Sue Cronic Brown of Madison, GA; daughters, Kim Alford (Rob) of Carrollton, GA and Kelly Brown (Deana) of Suwanee, GA; grandchildren, Ty Alford (Bailey) of Winston, GA and Grace Alford (Bryan) of Carrollton, GA; a number of nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by brothers: C.L. Brown, Joe Brown and Clyde Brown.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, in the Wesley Building, on Old Post Rd. Madison, GA 30650 with Rev. Zack Martin officiating. Rob Alford, Derek and Duane Brown will be providing the special music. Interment will be in the Buckhead Cemetery, 4441 Buckhead Road, Buckhead, GA 30625. Serving as pallbearers are Tim Brown, Greg Brown, David Brown, Ty Alford, Derek Brown, Duane Brown and Damon Brown. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Any memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Madison.
