Charles "Chuck" Everett Stewart

Charles Everett “Chuck” Stewart passed peacefully into his heavenly home on May 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and the legacy of a life well lived. Chuck was born and raised in Kewanee, Illinois, a town he proudly referred to as the “hog capital of the world.” The youngest of three children, he often credited a fortunate twist of fate for changing the trajectory of his life when he was able to attend St. Bede Catholic School during his high school years. His strong Catholic faith remained a guiding force throughout his life. Chuck attended Marquette University, where he played football for one year and later met the love of his life, Mary Lucille Pinns. The two shared nearly 69 wonderful years of marriage filled with faith, adventure, laughter, and unwavering devotion to one another.

Together, Chuck and Mary Lu raised six children: Mark (Mary Ann) Stewart, Chris (Susan) Stewart, Kimberly Duckworth, Paula (Craig) Paterson, Karen (Stuart) Noble, and Sheila (Steve) Wohnoutka. Their family continued to grow through 14 beloved grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him tremendous joy and pride. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marguerite Seely; his brother, Lyle Stewart; his grandson, Michael Stewart; and his son-in-law, Jim Duckworth.

Chuck enjoyed a long and successful career in the chemical industry, beginning in sales and eventually serving as President of Diamond Shamrock and later as Executive Vice President at Occidental Chemical following its acquisition of Diamond Shamrock. Even in retirement, he remained active and respected in the business community, serving on the Board of Directors of Albemarle Corporation.

A devoted Catholic and proud 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, Chuck lived his faith through generosity, integrity, and service to others. He was known for his warmth, kindness, and ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. Chuck never met a stranger and was a consummate storyteller whose humor and wisdom left lasting impressions on all who knew him.

Chuck and Mary Lu shared a deep love for international travel and adventure. Together, they visited every continent except Antarctica, creating lifelong memories across the globe. They also cherished time spent at their beloved lake home on Lake Oconee, where family gatherings, card games, golf, and sunsets became treasured traditions. In his leisure time, Chuck enjoyed golf, poker, travel, and above all, time with family. His greatest legacy is the loving and supportive family he built and the values he instilled-  commitment, responsibility, integrity, faith, and unconditional love. Chuck will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know him.

A Catholic Service will be celebrated by Deacon Greg at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday June 4th, 2026 at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church. There will be a reception in the church hall immediately following the service.

Graveside services for immediate family and friends will take place at 3:00 p.m. at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in the Honey Creek Woodlands, 2625 Highway 212 S.W., Conyers, GA 30094.
