Charles William “Chuck” Adair, Sr., age 79 of White Plains, GA passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospice in Watkinsville, GA. He was born on December 15, 1940 in Detroit, MI. Chuck was the son of the late William Adair and Effenia Stockton Adair. He was married to the former Frances Elaine Howard for 58 years. They married February 25, 1962 at Umatilla Methodist Church in Umatilla, Florida. Chuck attended the University of Florida. After 35 years of service he retired in 1996 from Union Oil Company in Management. After retirement they moved to Greene County where he has lived for the last twenty years. As long as health permitted Chuck was a faithful member of Liberty United Methodist Church in White Plains and enjoyed singing in the choir. His many interests included fishing, coin collecting and he loved to research historic churches in Georgia. He also served his country in the National Guard. He was a loving and supportive father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Chuck was preceded in death by his mother and father, William and Effenia Adair, and his brother Edward Adair. He is survived by his wife Frances Adair of White Plains, GA; sister, Linda Adair Rice, sons; Charles William Adair, Jr. of Seattle, WA and David Howard Adair (Anne) of Loganville, GA; daughter, Kimara Lathem of Dallas, GA; eight grandchildren, Candace Long (Andy) of Dacula, Daniel Adair (Katie) of Sharpsburg, GA, Amber Madden (Matt) of Lilburn, GA, Josh Adair (Chanade) of Norcross, GA, Kayleigh Cannon (Blair) of Winston Salem, NC, Kami Davis (Jordan) of Winder, GA, James Lathem and Jordan Lathem both of Acworth, GA; eleven great grandchildren; four nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
