Charles William Maxwell, Jr. of Bishop, GA, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Piedmont Athens Regional in Athens, GA. Charles was born in Milledgeville, GA on September 13, 1971 the son of the late Charles William Maxwell, Sr. and Willeen Bearden Maxwell. In 1990 he graduated from Putnam County High School. On February 25, 1995 he married the former Sandy Lynn Hunt at Bethel Baptist in Milledgeville, GA where he was a longtime member. Four years ago they moved from Commerce, GA to Bishop, GA. For many years he was a security officer for Sizemore, Inc. and later a car salesman for Countryside Dodge. He most enjoyed fishing on his Uncle Larry’s lake, but he also loved bowling. He dearly loved his family and will truly be missed.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy Lynn Hunt Lanier Maxwell of Bishop, GA; sons, Matthew Clarence Maxwell (Brianna) of Bishop, GA and Michael Lanier (Miranda) of Greensboro, GA; sisters, Lisa Taylor (Anthony “Tub”) of Hiawassee, GA, Syble Toakes of Vancouver, WA and Sherry Williams of Demorest, GA; brother, Ronnie Maxwell (Penny) of Bostwick, GA; granddaughter, Carley Grace Maxwell; and his beloved dogs, Ford and Murphy; and granddog, George. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his five year old nephew, Michael “Mikey” Toakes whom he loved dearly.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Chapel, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Jimmy Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers are Jeff Maxwell, Brian Rea, Matt Sommerfield, Arnold Garza, Michael Matheson and Donald Bentley. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, February 22, 2022 at McCommons Funeral Home.
