Cecil Phillip Brown, Sr.

Cecil Phillip Brown, Sr. of Union Point, Georgia, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro, GA at the age of 86. A lifelong resident of Greene County he was born August 29, 1933 to the late Marion and Susie Smith Brown. On May 17, 1972 Cecil married the former Frances Kay Ellison of Union Point. He began his working career with Alvin Reese of Union Point as a mechanic and later became a mechanic for Greene County retiring twenty years ago. Working in the yard and repair work were his favorite past times, but most of all he enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of forty-eight years, Frances Kay Brown of Union Point, GA, he is survived by his daughter and her husband, Renea and Jeremy Thrash of Buckhead, GA and their children Jonathan Thrash and Rachel Thrash; and his siblings, Martha Brown, Betty Jean Brown, Linda Brown, Thomas Brown and Albert Brown all of Union Point, GA. He was preceded in death by a son, Cecil Phillip Brown, Jr. and his brothers, Bill Howard Brown, Carlton Brown and Mercer Brown.

Graveside Services will be held, Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Wisteria Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Bruce Lovin officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 12, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Callaway Funeral Home. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
