Cathy (Duvall) Smith

Cathy Duvall Smith, a lifelong resident of Greshamville, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at High Shoals Health & Rehab at the age of 73. Born in Greensboro on August 12, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Reid Arthur Duvall and Annis Ruth Carson Duvall. A graduate of Nathanael Greene Academy, Cathy married Johnny B. Smith, Jr. on January 5, 1975, in Greshamville. Throughout her career, she was a dedicated bookkeeper for Wellington Puritan Mills for many years and later a bookkeeper for Union Pharmacy, and she was also a licensed beautician. Cathy was an active member of Fork Chapel Methodist Church and cherished her time with the Women of Faith group.

Cathy is survived by her brother, Billy Duvall (Bonnie) of Greshamville; her sisters, Martha Duvall Wood of Nicholson and Nell Duvall Magnus (Ken) of Maxeys; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnny B. Smith; her brother, Larry Duvall (Diane), infant brother, Ralph Duvall; and her brother-in-law, Curran Wood.

Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Dr. William (Bill) Neeley at Fork Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fork Chapel Methodist Church building fund, 1401 Farmington Road, Madison, GA 30650.
