Catherine "Cathy" Patricia (Moran) Murphy

   Catherine Patricia Moran “Cathy” Murphy, age 72, of Greensboro, GA passed away at Piedmont Athens General on Friday April 22, 2022. Born in South Amboy, NJ on March 17, 1950, she was one of ten children born to the late William J. Moran and Eileen R. Moran. She graduated from Hoffman High School in 1969. She married Gregory Michael Murphy in 1976. They moved to Greensboro in 1978 and made their home and raised their children. At the time of her passing she worked at a2b Fulfillment.
   “Granny” as she was known to most people, loved an adventure. She loved shopping trips with her granddaughters, baking cookies and other treats at Christmas time, and family trips to the beach. 
  She is survived by her husband, Greg, with whom she celebrated 45 years of marriage on Dec, 31st. Together they shared 5 children, Greg(Susan) Murphy of NJ, Danny(Kelly) Murphy of NY, Cathy(Randy) Lawson of Greensboro, Cliff Murphy of TX, and Kelly Murphy of Union Point. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Maureen in 1973. 
    She is survived by siblings, Richard(Cathie) Moran, Eileen(Carl) Werner, Mary Raber, James(Maryann) Moran, Jacqueline(Sam) Jones, and Joann(James) Janik. She is preceded in death by a sister, Margaret LaTourette, and brothers William Moran, Jr. and Francis Moran.
    Her grandchildren, who were the loves of her life, include Ryan, Cole, Taylor, Katelyn, Kelsey, Alana, Shelby, Luke, Noah, Beth, and Genna. Her great grands were Kyree, Colter, Aiden, and Emma.
    “Granny” shared an amazing love with “Poppy.” It was a love so grand they had two anniversaries. Dec 31(45 years) and July 8(9 years). That love was instilled into their children and grandchildren.  
      Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Tim Tabler officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
