Carolyn Louise (Vandiver) Batson

Carolyn Louise Vandiver Batson of Eatonton, GA, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at the age of 77.  Born July 30, 1945 in Greensboro, GA, she was the daughter of the late Hoyt S. Vandiver, Sr. and Mary Lois Bryant Vandiver.  Carolyn attended Greensboro  High School.  On July 8, 1976, she married Donald Batson.  For a time she worked for Thomas Textile in Union Point and later Horizon Growers in Greensboro. After that she enjoyed being a homemaker keeping everybody straight.  She did the best she could in everything including cooking and gardening.
 
She is survived by her husband of forty-six years, Donald Batson of Eatonton, GA; son, William Vandiver; sister, Linda Hutto (Ronnie Daniel); brothers, Thomas Vandiver, Sr. (Geraldine), Louie L. Vandiver, Marion Vandiver (Faye), Jerry S. Vandiver (Connie) and Darrell Vandiver (Kay); grandchildren, Anna Vandiver and Emily Vandiver; a number of other relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her siblings, Cathrine Melson, Jeannette Veale, Betty Jo Patterson, Hoyt “June” Vandiver, Jr. and William Jarrell “Bodie” Vandiver

Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 30, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel in Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Bruce Lovin officiating.  Interment will follow in the Greensboro City Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers are Randy Dunn, Jack Melson, Garrett Butts, John Lewis, Calvin Hatchett and Jody Vandiver.  The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
