Carole Askew Obituary

Carole Brook Askew, age 61, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Born in Clarke County on April 18, 1944, she was the daughter of Frances T. Gunn of Union Point, GA and the late Gideon Robert Brook. She grew up in Greene County and attended Greensboro High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking caramel cakes and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her dogs. She was a member of Grace Fellowship of Greensboro.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Raymond Askew, of Greensboro, GA; a daughter, Donna Askew Moon and husband Tommy of Greensboro, GA; a son, Ben Askew and wife Debbie of Union Point, GA; two brothers, Bobby Brook and wife Faye of Union Point, GA and Robert Gunn of Union Point, GA; and two granddaughters, Brook Moon and Ellie Askew. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Doc Benjamin Taylor and Fannie Taylor and G. R. Brook Sr. and Maude Brook.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Walker Church Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy A. Long, Rev. Curtiss Moore and Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Luke Askew, Bill Byce, Taylor Brook, Wayne Hammock, Tommy Towler and Roger Dayton. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Bill Campbell, Marty Pinion, Gene Askew and A. E. Axelberg. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday night at the funeral home.
