Carol Crisler Cowart, age 76, of Madison, Georgia passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020 at her residence. Born April 16, 1944 in Commerce, GA she was the daughter of the late George Addison Crisler and Velma Spear Crisler. She attended Scarritt College in Nashville, TN. While living in Florida Carol ran a kindergarten and afterschool program for the community children until she met and married Leslie Lanier Cowart on February 26, 1972. She was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family and helping her husband who served as pastor of many churches in the North Georgia and South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed music but folk music was her favorite. She was a member of Bostwick United Methodist Church.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Leslie Cowart in November of 2019; son, John Charles Addison Cowart; and her brothers, Virlyn Roger Crisler and Larry Crisler. She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Tingle of Madison, GA; grandchildren: Patrick, Caroline, Kaedence and Matthew Tingle; a number of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 31, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Bostwick Cemetery, Bostwick, GA 30623 with Rev. Doug Jordan officiating.
