Brenda (Cook) Williford

Brenda Cook Williford, age 76, of Greensboro, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Westbury Rehabilitation Home in Conyers, GA.  She was born in Baltimore, MD on May 28, 1944, and was a lifelong resident of Greensboro, GA and then Union Point, GA after her marriage. She was the daughter of the late Lillian Finch Tumlin and stepdaughter of George Tumlin, Sr. both of Greensboro.  She attended Greensboro High School. Brenda worked at several jobs before becoming a Certified Medical Assistant. She worked in that capacity at Boswell Memorial Hospital and later in residential care facilities in Greensboro and Conyers, GA. She was a loving person and a natural caregiver who enjoyed helping other people. 

She loved her immediate and extended family and never forgot a birthday or other special event. Brenda always kept a box of assorted greeting cards on hand to send well wishes to family and friends. After the passing of her husband Jackie Williford, she spent the last several years splitting her time between in the homes of her sisters and brother where she treated grand nieces and nephews like they were her own children. But her heart and identity were always in Greene County. She would spend hours retelling stories and recalling the people of Greene County with whom we all grew up. She loved pets almost as well as she did people. One of her absolute favorite activities was attending the Wednesday evening dinners and talking with people at Trenton Baptist Church near New Bern, NC where her brother is the pastor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Williford of Union Point; and her mother Lilly Tumlin, Stepfather, George Tumlin, Sr, and her sister Barbara Tumlin Moore. 

She is survived by her stepmother Dorothy Tumlin of Greensboro, brother George Tumlin, Jr. and his wife Lynda of New Bern, NC; sisters Catherine Caldwell and husband Jerry, Debra Tumlin all of Conyers, stepsister Marie Hopkins Lindsey of Greensboro, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating.
