Billy Blake Dotson

Billy Blake Dotson, age 79, of Greensboro, GA, died at The Harbor at Harmony Crossing in Eatonton, GA, on Wednesday, August 5, 2020. A native of Hurley, VA, he was born on June 7, 1941, the son of the late Scott and Rose Justus Dotson. He received degrees from Pikeville College (UPike), Radford University, and the University of Virginia. He met his wife, Verley Sue Francis, at Pikeville College (UPike, KY). They were married November 22, 1962.  

In 1998, Bill and Verley moved to Greensboro, GA, and for the next fourteen years Bill was the General Manger of Harbor Club, retiring in 2012. Bill enjoyed a variety of interests: golf, cars, Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, but most of all he became an avid Georgia Bulldog.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro.  

Survivors include his wife of nearly fifty-eight years, Verley Sue Dotson of Greensboro, GA; daughter, Kimberley Hazelwood (Dan) of Cumming, GA; son, Dwaine Blake Dotson (Pam) of Tabor City, NC; sister, Phyllis Hill of Flint, MI; brother, Clay Dotson (Betty) of Young Harris, GA; grandchildren: Jessica Dotson of Fredericksburg, VA; Ashleigh Collins of Wise, VA; Megan Dotson of Wilmington, NC; Madison Hazelwood and Colin Hazelwood of Cumming, GA; great grandchildren: Maggie and Lydia Collins of Wise, VA; and Bill and Verley’s Prince Hairy that he loved dearly. 

A private family Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 29, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at The First Presbyterian Church, 117 South Main ST, Greensboro, GA 30642, with Rev. Meg Jackson Clark officiating.  Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Verley’s Prince Hairy.
