Bill Lee Phillips of Greensboro, GA, formerly of Oxford, Ohio, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro at the age of 92. Born in Hazel Park, Michigan on April 5, 1932 he was one of six children born to the late Cora Thomas McCuiston Phillips and Elbert Florice Phillips. He met Lois Marcum and they married on March 31, 1951 at the First Baptist Church in her hometown of Hamilton, Ohio. Bill received his Bachelor’s degree from Miami University in 1954. After graduating from Miami, Bill had a successful career in business working for Champion Paper Company, General Foods, Great Western Sugar Company, Duracell and Tupperware International where he retired as Senior Vice President.
In 1994, with his son Darrell, they founded BDLS & Associates, Inc. A few years later his son Doug joined the company. Bill had a successful business with BDLS & Associates, Inc. as Vice President where they inspected soil erosion controls for new construction. Bill was very involved in the community as a volunteer with Old Salem Fire Department which he helped to start and Reynolds Homeowners Association. His interests included golfing, fishing, singing, boating and skiing. He was a member of Walker United Methodist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir and also sang with the Reynolds Chorus. He was the proud father of three sons and was very active in their various sport activities as they grew up and continued to participate in his grandchildren’s activities.
Survivors include two sons: Douglas Phillips (Margaret) of Greensboro, GA and Darrell Phillips of Greensboro, GA; brother, Michael Phillips; four grandchildren: Kristin Passaglia (Matt), Matthew Phillips (Kimmy), Sam Phillips and Julie Kirk (Terry); eight great grandchildren; and many other relatives and close friends. In addition to his wife, Lois Phillips and his son, Dale Phillips, he was preceded in death by four of his siblings: Evelyn Claxton, Evon Laubenstein, Patsy Phillips-Kollen and Jack Phillips.
A private Memorial Service will be held in Hamilton, Ohio at a later date where he will be buried next to his wife, Lois. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Alzheimer’s Association or Walker United Methodist Church. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
