Obituary

Beverly Louise Moore Copelan of Greensboro, GA, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at the Harbor at Harmony Crossing at the age of 94. She was born in Greensboro, GA on July 14, 1929 to the late Oscar Belvin Moore, Sr. and Robert Louise Woodham Moore. Beverly graduated from Greensboro High School in the class of 1946 and on July 24, 1949, she married Charles Lindbergh Copelan at the First United Methodist Church in Greensboro. Over the years she had worked at the Georgia Extension Service in Athens from 1946 to 1948, Minnie G. Boswell Hospital from 1949 to 1952, part time for Duvall and Wheeler Livestock Barn from 1958 to 1965 and part time for the Federal Civil Defense. She was a faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro.  She enjoyed attending church, singing, and socializing with her husband and friends. She considered herself a homemaker and nothing made her happier than being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Beverly was an excellent cook and loved to play bingo. In the past she was a very active member of the Grandparents Club at Nathanael Greene Academy. 

In addition to her husband, Charles Copelan; her parents, O. B. and Roberta Moore; and her husband’s parents, Sara and Jasper Copelan, she was preceded in death by her son, Gary Copelan; sister, Shirley Moore Bloodworth; and brothers, O. B. Moore, Jr. and Everett (Brother) Moore. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Hogan (David) of Waynesboro, GA; two sons, Bruce Copelan (Julie) of Greensboro, GA and Lindy Copelan of Greensboro, GA; six grandchildren, Kellie Webster  (Will), Russell Copelan (Jessica), Randall Copelan, Davison Hogan, Lauren Hogan Rocha (Sergio) and Hamilton Hogan (Alisha); four great grandchildren, Lillie Webster,  Mallory Webster, Emilia Rocha and Carolina Rocha.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 203 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA with Rev. Mark Jones officiating. Interment for the family will follow in the Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers are Russell Copelan, Billy Copelan III, Josh Copelan, Will Webster, Randall Copelan and Hamilton Hogan. Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Copelan, Jr., Ray Copelan, Dr. Billy Copelan, Butch David, Chris Houston and Johnny Hester. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that any memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 203 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 or Nathanael Greene Academy, P. O. Box 109, Siloam, GA 30665.
