Beverly Cegala Obituary

Beverly Ann Cegala passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2024. She was born on April 2nd, 1929 in Fort Plain, New York, to Viola and Myron Melick. Her parents and only sister Janice George preceded her in death.

Beverly married her wonderful husband of 74 years, Joe, on June 12th, 1948 at All Saints Catholic Church in Buffalo, New York. Joe passed away on December 10th, 2022.

Beverly was a loving, caring wife and mother to their four children. She is survived by her children Debbie Canada, Candy (Mike) Winecoff, Joe (Julie) Cegala and Nanette (David) Renzi.

Beverly was a very special and loving grandmother to her 12 grandchildren who brought great joy to her life!  Jennifer (Vince) Kassay, David (Tracey) Warner, Ashley (Justin) Marlow, Melanie (Derek) Dombroski, Drew (Danielle) Maher, Rebecca Harrison, Laura Kate (John David) Gettmann, Mallory (Caleb) Click, Cameron (Brian) Cegala, Tyler (Jasmine) Renzi, Stephanie (Alex) Morris and Madaline (Matthew) Fowler. Plus five step grandchildren.

She was blessed with 23 great grandchildren with two more due in October of 2024: Lily, Jackson, Peyton, Ciara, Alex, Joshua, Hannah, John Marlin, Milly, Mary Reid, Mae, Caleb, Ivy, Riley, Ardyn, Pruett, Mary Neal, Alice, Lucy, Maggie, Olivia, Maverick, and Madden. Also, nine step great grandchildren. In addition to one great, great, grandchild, Braxton.

Bev and Joe moved to Zionsville, Indiana in 1979 and retired there in 1990. They lived in Indiana until April of 2021 when they moved to Greensboro, Georgia to be closer to family.

While a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Zionsville Beverly served as a faithful Eucharistic Minister of Holy Communion and Sacristan. For over 25 years she was active in Parish Friends, a group visiting the sick and shut ins of the parish. Bev and Joe were involved with many of the parish activities.

Bev was an avid lover of animals. She received so much joy from the K9 angels who visited the Glen while she lived there. In addition to animals, Bev was a big supporter of our military veterans.

Bev and Joe had a great joy for dancing and especially square dancing with friends in Indiana. Bev always told her grandchildren the secret to a good marriage was dancing with your spouse.
