Betty F. Tolbert, 74, of the Liberty Community in Greene County died Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at her residence. Born in Penfield, Georgia on August 23, 1928, she was the daughter of the late E. Calvin Fitzpatrick and Blanche Wilson Fitzpatrick. She graduated from Greensboro High School in 1945 and was a homemaker. She was a member of Penfield Baptist Church and a former member of Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church in East Point, Georgia. She and her husband moved back to the Liberty Community in 1987.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, Joseph Tolbert of the Liberty Community; a son, Barry Tolbert and wife Gerry of Peachtree City, Georgia; a sister, Katherine Harr of Suwanee, Georgia; a brother, Calvin Fitzpatrick of Macon, Georgia; three grandchildren, Connor Tolbert, Ciara Tolbert and Cormac Tolbert; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 3, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Penfield Baptist Church with Rev. David Jordan and Rev. Gary Nicholas officiating. Burial will follow in the Penfield Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Dan Norton, Paul Harr, Bob Hixson, Bob Mathews, Ricky Webb and Charlie Berry. The family requests that memorials be made to Penfield Baptist Church, 1211 Cemetery Street, Penfield, Georgia 30669 or VistaCare Hospice, 767 Oglethorpe Avenue, Athens, Georgia 30606. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday night at the Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
