Benjamin Brook Askew passed away on October 2, 2024, at his home in Union Point, GA. Throughout his wonderful 61 years, Ben was an amazing son, father, and friend. He was born to Raymond Thurston Askew and Carole Brook Askew on August 23, 1963, at Minnie G Boswell Hospital in Greensboro. Ben loved his upbringing in Greensboro and was a graduate of Greene County High School and a member of FFA. He enjoyed working on his family’s dairy farm in his high school years and beyond. A Lake Oconee native, Ben was an avid boater and fisherman alongside his father and knew the lake like the back of his hand. Ben began building his career as an excellent Machinist and Tool and Die maker at Micro Mold in Union Point. Around this time, he met the love of his life, Debbie, and enjoyed 39 years of marriage together- traveling, spending time outdoors with their beloved cats and dogs, and raising their daughter, Ellie. Ben was the best father ever and a great role model for his family. Ben was the most hardworking person, and quickly advanced his career while working at Thomson Plastics, Inc and at Versatile Mold and Design as the Machining Center Department Manager. He loved laughing with his coworkers, who inevitably became close friends. In his free time, he was an avid road and trail cyclist, and was key in creating the trail system of Hart Farms Trails in Union Point where he was known as ‘Ben Diesel’ for his cycling skills. He was a member of the firefly trail committee and was an advocate for implementing the beginning of the trail system in Union Point. Ben enjoyed attending the First Baptist Church in Union Point and loved his church family.
Ben is survived by his wife Debbie Askew; daughter, Ellie Askew; and sister, Donna Moon. He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Askew, and mother, Carole Askew.
