Belinda Gayle Scott Oakley of Madison, Georgia, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Madison House Senior Living. She was 74 years old. She had made her home in Madison for the past eight years. Born in Danville, Virginia, on August 26, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Howard Burkette Scott, Jr. and Rose Marie Banks Scott. She graduated from Tunstall County High School and earned an associate degree from Danville Community College.
She proudly served in the United States Army while stationed in Kansas and received an honorable discharge. She was employed as a seamstress at Dan River Mills. An accomplished artist, she possessed a talent for drawing and could create detailed artwork of anything.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Oakley. Survivors include her brothers, whom she loved dearly: Howard Burkette Scott, Jr. and his wife Sheryl of Milledgeville, and George Scott of Gordon, Georgia; her only son, Jason Long and his wife Brandy of Lindale, Georgia, along with their children, Ashley and Brooklyn Long; and her nephew, Adam Scott, along with his children, Piper, Kyler, and Serenity Scott.
