Beatrice Tucker West

Flora Beatrice Tucker West, age 96, of Greensboro, GA, died Monday, May 17, 2010 at Saint Joseph''s at East Georgia Hospital in Greensboro. Born in Oglethorpe County, Georgia on April 9, 1914, she was one of eleven children born to the late Eddie Thurmond Tucker and Mattie Sue Burt Tucker. Beatrice grew up and attended Oglethorpe County Schools. For a number of years she worked at Mary Leila Cotton Mill and also sold insurance out of her home. Along with her husband Tillman West, she took care of the Greensboro Burial Association. She was a member of West End Baptist Church.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Tillman West in October of 1994; and siblings, Clarence Tucker, Edgar Tucker, Willie Mae Tucker, Sallie Sue Tucker, Bennie Tucker, Fred Tucker, Frazier Tucker and Inez Parker. She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy West of El Cajon, CA; two sisters, Betty McFarland of Greensboro, GA and Dorothy Ammons of Flowery Branch, GA; three grandchildren, Dane Wallace, Neil Reed and Ester Gray; four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home in Greensboro. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
