Beatrice Mullins Barry, 94, of Athens, GA, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at Lilburn Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born October 20, 1909 in Penfield, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Earl Mullins and Mary Amanda Campbell Mullins. She was a graduate of the Normal School in Athens, Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville and the University of Georgia. After graduating, she taught at Meadowcrest School and other schools in Greene County for a number of years. When she had her first child, she stopped teaching to become a full time homemaker. She was a long time member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church in Athens where she taught the four and five year old Sunday School Class for many years.
She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth "Libby" Barry Hamby of College Park, GA and Martha Barry Kristin of Comer, GA; a sister, Hilda Mullins Cantrell of Penfield, GA; six grandchildren, Lisa Chawla, Barry Dillard, Patrick Hutto, Fred Kristin, Amanda Carson, and Julie Kristin; a great-grandchild, Julian Fredrick Chawla; and a number of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Barry, in 1972; a daughter, Ann Barry Hutto in 2003; and three brothers, George Mullins, Benjamin Mullins, and Addison Mullins.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 5, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Bill Ricketts officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Maninder Chawla, Matthew Carson, Patrick Hutto and Jeremy Anderson. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service at the Funeral Home.
