Barla (Gore) Carter

Services for Barla Gore Carter will be conducted at 12 noon, Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Mt Hebron United Methodist Church with burial to follow in church cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday, from 10:00 to 11:00 a. m. at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium Lexington Chapel.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 3223 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia, SC 29169. 

Barla Gore Carter was married to Gene Austin Carter for 56 years, who preceded her in death December 2010.  Barla was born in Brunswick County, NC to the late James Varney & Vallie Lewis Gore.  She attended Bolivia schools and later in her life attended cosmetology school.  She was first and foremost a wife and mom. 

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Delores Carter of Blaine, WA, Dean and Cathy Carter of Greensboro, GA, Chad and Sharon Carter of Simpsonville, SC, 2 grandchildren, Alison Carter Johnson of Thompson, GA, Christy Carter Grover of North Augusta, SC, 2 great grandchildren,  Bryson Grover and Ava Grover of North Augusta, SC, sisters-in-law, Shirley Gore of Wilmington, NC, and Wilma Carter Cooper of Madison, TN, brother-in-law, Trellis (Margaret) Carter of Timmonsville, SC, along with several nieces and nephews.
