Barbara Ann Stanley Overton, age 79, of Greensboro, Georgia passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at her home with her family. She was born in Greensboro, Georgia where she lived much of her life on May 13, 1944 the daughter of the late LeRoy and Sallie Inez Lundy Stanley. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Greensboro.
Beginning each day with Bible study was her practice for many years. She loved music and enjoyed playing the piano. While she was a charter member of the Greensboro High School Tiger Band, she learned to play the French Horn. Her hobbies were crafts and drawing. She was a 1962 graduate of Greensboro High School. She worked in the business office of Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital. In 1965, she moved to the Atlanta area and was employed by Home Transportation in Marietta and later was employed by Georgia Highway Express, Inc., Atlanta in the accounting department. She returned to Greensboro to live in 1988.
She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Inez Lundy Stanley; sister, Nina Stanley Bedsole and nephew, Steve Bedsole. She is survived by her nieces, June Bedsole and Gail Bedsole, great nieces and nephews, Barbara Gonzalez (Robert), Margaret Matheny (Phil), Holly Ogletree, James Cason (Ashley), Alan Bedsole, Chris Garcia (David); great great nieces and nephews: Victoria Poss, Haley Poss, Sara Ann Matheny, Logan Matheny, Remi Matheny, Ashlynn Caviness, Preston Caviness, Emily Cason, Alaina Cason, Payton Cason, Corey Bedsole, Daniel Garcia, Jaxon Webb-Poss, and Everly Matheny; other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenview Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. Serving as pallbearers are James Cason, Fred Edwards, Phil Matheny, David Webb, Logan Matheny and Chris Patton. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Lundy, Tommy Lundy, Robert Gonzalez, Darryl Lundy, and Johnnie Satterfield, Jr. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until time for the service.
