Anna Elizabeth (Sumner) Hopkins

Anna Sumner Hopkins of Union Point, GA, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the age of 70. She was born in Tifton, GA, on November 28, 1955, to the late Elzie Carlos Sumner, Sr., and Patty Nell Doss Sumner. She graduated from Nathanael Greene Academy in 1974 and furthered her education at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. She married Edward Wayne Hopkins on September 14, 2000, and they have resided in Union Point for the past thirty years. Throughout her professional career, Anna worked for BankSouth, starting as teller and retiring after almost thirty years as Vice President and Loan Officer. Anna was a loving wife, mama, nana, sister, aunt, and a treasured friend to many. She loved spending time with her husband, four girls and eight grandkids.  Anna’s hobbies included reading and gardening, but her real love other than family was serving her customers.

In addition to her husband, Wayne Hopkins of Union Point, GA, her survivors include her daughters: Elizabeth "Beth" Sellers Patrick (Jeff) of Madison, GA; Kim Hopkins Leach (Russell) of Greensboro, GA; Kelly Hopkins Coleman (Allen) of White Plains, GA; and Shelly Hopkins Coleman (Grant) of White Plains, GA. She is also survived by her sister, Gayle Sumner MacAllister (John) of Dawsonville, GA; her brother, Elzie Carlos "Carl" Sumner Jr. (Cindy) of Veazey, GA; her grandchildren: Heather Miranda Patrick of Athens, GA; Breanna Elizabeth Patrick of Madison, GA; Kimberly Morgan Leach of Greensboro, GA; Walyn Lanier Coleman, Bailey Ryan Coleman, Landon Grant Coleman, William Hopkins Coleman, and Nolan McCrae Coleman all of White Plains, GA; along with other relatives and friends.

A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, January 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Callaway Funeral Home Chapel, 208 N. Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. The visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA. Serving as pallbearers will be Allen Coleman, Grant Coleman, Russell Leach, Jeff Patrick, Cole Sumner and Clark MacAllister.
