Alvin "Snooks" Scott Harwell

Alvin Scott “Snooks” Harwell of Crawfordville, GA, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro. A lifelong resident of Crawfordville, Snooks was born January 9, 1927 in Crawfordville to the late Velton and Margaret Davis Harwell. He was a graduate of ASI and after high school he proudly served his country in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II. On February 9, 1946 he married the former Martha Jackson from Union Point, GA with whom he had five children. During his working career he drove a truck and retired from Alma Plastics. Snooks was a member of Margarets Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his children, Brenda (Richard) Tolbert, Derek (Sharon) Harwell, Skylar (Linda) Harwell, Tracey Harwell and Vee Harwell; grandchildren, Bethany Harwell, Brandy (Shawn) McAlexander, Wendel (Laura) Harwell and Brian (Gail) Moore; great grandchildren, John Moore, Sarah Grace Moore, Will Moore, Margaret Moore and Ellie Moore. His wife, Martha Harwell, preceded him in death in 2021.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, February 25,2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Callaway Funeral Home Chapel, 208 N. Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Tommy Harwell and Rev. Tommy Darracott officiating. The family will receive family and friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669. Serving as pallbearers are Kenny Stewart, Dwight Winslett, Justin Crabtree, Steve Crabtree, Shane Crabtree, and Robbie Rice.
