Abbie Lee Scoggins
Abbie Lee Scoggins age 98, of Greensboro, GA, died Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Legacy Health and Rehabilitation in Greensboro. A native and lifelong resident of Greene County she was born in Siloam on July 7, 1922 to the late Obie Columbus Tolbert and Nancy Ada Bryan Tolbert. She attended Greensboro High School and married Early Walter Scoggins. They made their home in Greensboro and while raising her family, she was a weaver for Wellington Puritan Mills. Mrs. Scoggins was the longest living member of Walker United Methodist Church. She joined in 1935 when she was 13. Walking, gardening, sewing and cooking were some of her many interests.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter; Janice Marie Flynn; and siblings, Ruth Virginia Moody, Harold Tolbert and Comer Tolbert. She is survived by a son, Tony Scoggins and his wife Deborah of Appling, GA; six grandchildren, Robert Troutman, Brook Troutman, Holly Troutman, Allison Balzano, Christopher Troutman and Justin Warren Scoggins; a number of other relatives and many good friends.
Private Family Graveside Services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Wesley Chapel Wesleyan Church Cemetery with Rev. John Pike officiating.
