Willie Mae Armor Burgess, age 89, of Greensboro, GA died Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Greene Point Health Care & Rehabilitation in Union Point, GA. A lifelong resident of Greene County, she was born on March 6, 1929 in Greensboro to the late William Combs and Beulah Melvin Smith Armor. She grew up in Greensboro and graduated from Greensboro High School. Willie Mae was a spindle and loom operator for Mary Leila Cotton Mill which later became Wellington Puritan Mills. She was a longtime member of West End Baptist Church and later Liberty United Methodist Church. Willie Mae especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Darren Burgess of Eatonton, GA and Lamar Burgess; brother, William G. Armor of Gray, GA; four grandchildren, Megan Limore Mize, Alexander Logan Burgess, Summer Mckenzie Burgess and Zoey Gabrielle Burgess; one great grandchild, Avalynn Michelle Burgess, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Thomas Goodwin Armor, Geraldine Brown and Jimmy Lou Christopher.
A Memorial Service and celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev.
