William Hicks Sisterhen, age 81, of Greensboro, GA, died Saturday, January 6, 2007 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Born in Chatham County, GA on April 2, 1925, he was the son of the late Karl Miller Sisterhen, a native of Ligonier, IN and Madge Hicks Sisterhen, a native of Savannah, GA. He was a 1943 graduate of Savannah High School and a 1958 graduate of Georgia Tech with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Mr. Sisterhen served as a carrier fighter pilot in the United States Navy from 1943 until 1956 during WWII and the Korean Conflict. In 1946 he married the love of his life, Martha Belle Hood. He owned and operated Albany Box Company and was a member of St. John''s Episcopal Church of Savannah. He and his wife retired to the Lake Oconee area in 1995.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Martha Belle Hood Sisterhen of Greensboro, GA; two sons, Dr. Daniel Hall Sisterhen and wife Christa of Alpharetta, GA and Commander George William Sisterhen, USN Ret. and wife Patricia of Collierville, TN; son-in-law, John McIntosh of Cincinnati, OH; seven grandchildren, Dr. Laura Lee Sisterhen, Dr. Lesley Ann Sisterhen, Patrick Karl Sisterhen, Martha Hood McIntosh, Anne L. McIntosh, Katie Scott Sisterhen, Alexander McIntosh; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marcia Lee Sisterhen McIntosh and a grandson, William D. McIntosh.
