William "Billy" Theodore Neal

William Theodore “Billy” Neal, age 76, of Crawfordville, GA, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born April 17, 1931 in Cairo, Grady County, GA to the late Willis Theodore Neal and Emma Kate Ross Neal. As a child, he attended and graduated from Alexander Stephens Institute in Crawfordville. During the Korean Conflict he served his country in the United States Marine Corps. After returning from the war, Billy married his sweetheart, Norma Sherrer and worked as a salesman and painter. In 1984 he and his wife returned to Crawfordville and owned and operated Bill’s Grocery Store for a number of years. Billy was a member of Crawfordville Baptist Church and American Legion Post 8 in Crawfordville, GA. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Norma Sherrer Neal of Crawfordville, GA; a daughter, Carolyn Lois Wellborn of Snellville, GA; two sons, Theodore Willis Neal and wife Nelda of Snellville, GA and Gary Todd Neal and wife Carol of Dacula, GA; two sisters, Bettye Tallent and husband Bill of Waynesboro, GA and Jean Rogers of Grayson, GA; a brother, Bobby Neal and wife Emily of Thomson, GA; five grandchildren, Jason Robinson, Wendy McDonald, Sara Wellborn, Jesse Neal and Max Neal; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
