William Edward “Dub” Jordan, age 64, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Monday, October 3, 2005 at his residence. One of nine children, he was born in Clarke County on February 14, 1941 to the late William Joseph Jordan and Ina Mae Smith Jordan. He attended Madison County Schools. He worked at Mary Leila Cotton Mill before he went to work for Mr. George Mullins. Later he was the owner and operator of his own electrical business that he ran with his son Mark. Fishing and hunting were his favorite pastimes and he also enjoyed woodworking. Affectionately known as “Poppie” by his grandkids, he enjoyed spoiling them and spending time with them.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Zerah Moody Jordan of Greensboro, GA; a daughter Dianne Foster and husband Joe of Siloam, GA; a son Mark Jordan of Greensboro, GA; four sisters, Louise Michaels and husband J. T. of Athens, GA, Virginia Smith and husband Joe Ben of Forsyth, GA, Rachel J. Glover of Robbinsville, NC and Gladys Frady and husband Bobby of Toccoa, GA; three brothers, Gene Jordan and wife Sandra of Union Point, GA, Adolphus Jordan and wife Gladys of Greensboro, GA and Wayne Jordan and wife Betty of the Veazey Community; four grandchildren, Megan Jordan, Jason Jordan, Jordan Foster and JoAnna Foster; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Edna J. Osley.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Farrett Boswell officiating.
