William Cantrell Obituary

William Hoke Cantrell, age 91, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Thursday, April 3, 2003 at Boswell Parker Nursing Center. A native of Jackson County, he was born February 12, 1912 to the late William Will Cantrell and Onie Ward Cantrell. As a young boy he moved to Greene County and attended school in White Plains and Powelton. He was a member of White Plains United Methodist Church. He was the owner and operator of a dairy farm and had worked as a maintenance supervisor for Vantress Poultry Farms.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Cato Cantrell of Greensboro, GA; three daughters, JoAn Roberson and husband John of Gray, GA, Vivian Southerland of Moccassin, MT, Jane Ellis and husband Stephen of Dahlonega, GA; two sons, James W. Cantrell and wife Margie of Ellenwood, GA and Terry Cantrell and wife Elaine of White Plains, GA; two stepsons, Gary Cato and wife Pat of Milledgeville, GA and Kenneth Cato and wife Terri of Fitzgerald, GA; ten grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Hulsey Cantrell, who was the mother of their five children.

Services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at White Plains United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert C. Rayner and Rev. Les Cowart officiating. Interment will follow at White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Ernest Davenport, Kenneth Davenport, Ken Rowland, Frank Hopkins Jr., Kevin Nichols, Eugene Underwood and Richard Newsom. The family requests that any memorials be made to the White Plains United Methodist Church, c/o Betty Jones, 1041 Church Street, White Plains, GA 30678. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
