William “Wild Bill” Buckland, 83, of Greensboro, GA, died Sunday, May 24, 2009 at his residence with his family. Born in Alexandria County, Virginia on October 31, 1925 he was the son of the late Clayton Buckland and Caroline “Carrie” Small Buckland. He was the owner and operator of Buckland’s Paving Service. Bill was a former member of the San Marino Lodge and was a shriner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Stanley Buckland; a son, William Boy Buckland; and siblings, Esther Smith, Jenny Castellow, Mose George Buckland, Nelson Buckland and Judy Jack Buckland. He is survived by four daughters, Betsy Buckland Moon of Greensboro, GA, Mary Bill Pollock of Greensboro, GA, Harriete Lynn Smith and husband Zachary of Lexington, SC and Carrie Buckland of Greensboro, GA; two sons, Cody Buckland of Greensboro, GA and Cheyanne Buckland of Greensboro, GA; three sisters, Dottie Buckland of Austell, GA, Betty Buckland of Austell, GA and Lori Buckland of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Shani Lynn Higdon, Brandon Moon, David William Allen, Bridgett Pollock, Jackie Marie Buckland, Willie Mose Buckland, Pheobee Faye Smith, Markie Saxs Smith, Zack John Smith and Jacob Saul Smith; great grandchildren, Chance Ellis, Tucker Higdon, Lacey Wilson, Elijah Jack Buckland, Taylor Allen and Tennett Allen; a number of nieces, nephews and friends; and his faithful dog Bella. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenview Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Mitchell officiating. Serving as pallbearers are David Allen, Cody Buckland, Willie Mose Buckland, Chance Ellis, Zack John Smith, Jacob Saul Smith and Shane Higdon.
