William Gates Blevins 

William Gates Blevins, age 99, of Greensboro, GA passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at his home in Reynolds Landing.  He was born August 22, 1918 in Filbert, WV, one of five children of the late Lee and Ella Gates Blevins.  After graduating from High School, he attended business school in Virginia.  On July 13, 1985, he married Jeanne Campbell. During his forty-three-year working career, he worked for Ashland Oil, Inc. as Manager of Stock Transfer and retired when he was 66.  After his retirement, they moved to Marietta and in September of 2016 moved to Lake Oconee where he spent many happy hours with family, friends and his favorite pastime, golfing. When he was younger he was a member of Foxy Creek Golfers, and the Kentucky Colonels.  He was also a member of the Windy Hills Square Dancing Club. He was a long-time member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Marietta, GA where he was active in Pathfinders Sunday School Class and the Faithful Followers. 

William is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Jeanne Blevins of Greensboro, GA; step daughter, Jeanne and Charles “Chuck” Rowland of Greensboro, GA; sister, Donna Marshall of Wytheville, VA; grandson, William Charles “Billy” Blevins and his wife Crystal of Flatwoods, KY; three great grandchildren, Stephanie, Nickolas and Robin; and many friends.  He was preceded in death by a son, William “Billy” Blevins in 2002 and his siblings, Naomi Reicht, Conley Blevins and Bobby Blevins.

A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 pm at St. Andrew United Methodist Church on May 21st.  The family requests that any memorials be made to St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 3455 Canton Rd., Marietta, GA 30066.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
