William Adams Obituary

William Henry “Bill” Adams, Jr. of Lawrenceville, Georgia, died on Monday, February 5, 2007 at Oconee Regional Medical Center in Milledgeville, GA. Son of the late William Henry Adams, Sr. and Muriel Martin Adams, Bill was born on November 29, 1924, in Hancock County, Georgia. He attended Sparta High School and as a young man he boxed at the Sparta gym and worked in Hancock County as a farmer. He served in the Pacific Theater and the Philippines in the United States Army for four years during World War II. When he came home he joined the Air Force for a year. After the military he ran a pulpwood crew in Hancock and Washington County. Later he worked in Macon at Georgia Kraft Pulpwood Mill, was a mechanic in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and drove a truck for several companies including Keller Industries and IDFA. Before retiring he owned A-Action Septic Tank Company in Gainesville, GA. He was a member of Centennial Christian Church where he was baptized in Shoulderbone Creek. He was preceded in death by his first wife Eva Grace Smith Adams in 1961; and siblings, Rena West, Vivian McDougal, and Clifford Eugene Adams. He is survived by four daughters, Elaine Adams Nassisi and husband Anthony of Lawrenceville, GA, Barbara Grace Berry and husband James of Deerfield Beach, FL, Mary Yvonne Rice and husband Ronald of Lake City, FL and Betty Marie Lance of Johnson City, TN; two sons, William D. Adams and wife Sheilagh of Milner, GA and Timothy Robert Adams and wife Amy of Gainesville, GA; a sister, Sarah Warren of Ocala, FL; a brother, Benny Lee Adams and wife Mary of Sugar Hill, GA; grandchildren, William Robert Adams, Marney Scott Adams, Sheilagh Elaine Barmore, Amanda Ashley Adams, Joshua Harold Adams, Cindy Bogard, Phillip Berry, Brenda Stafford, Nicole Nassisi, Christina Nassisi, Kimberly Sanders, Ronald Rice Jr., Becky Lance and Eva Lance; great grandchildren, Erika Adams, Zoe Adams, Olivia Adams, Justin Adams, Hannah Adams, Rebekah Adams, Crystal Bogard, Shelly Bogard, Richard James Bogard, Ronald Brewer, Dylan Brewer, Christopher Ford, Ronald Rice III and Natalie Rice; and a host of other friends and relatives. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev.Garth Forster officiating. Interment will follow in Centennial Christian Church Cemetery in White Plains, GA. serving as pallbearers are Phillip Berry, Scott Adams, Josh Adams, Robbie Adams, Dennis West, Jack McDougal, and Jacob Hand.
