Willene Durham Obituary

Willene Hallford Durham, 89, of Crawfordville, Georgia died Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Saint Joseph''s at East Georgia in Greensboro. A native of Wilkes County, she was born on September 14, 1920 to the late William Wallace Hallford and Myrtice Sims Hallford. Mrs. Durham attended Wilkes County High School. She was married to Steed G. Durham, who preceded her in death in November 1986. They made their home in Crawfordville, Georgia, where she was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress for Royal Manufacturing Company. After leaving this employment Mrs. Durham was a volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary at Minnie G. Boswell Hospital for twenty years. She was a member of Crawfordville Baptist Church and active in her church and community.

Survivors include two daughters, Yvonne Durham Parrish of Madison, Georgia and Stephanie Durham of Crawfordville, Georgia; two grandchildren, Craig Parrish and Leigh Parrish; two great grandchildren, Jeffrey Parrish and Annie Parrish; a brother, Ernest Addison Hallford of the Sandy Cross Community; and a number of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Bertie Mae Hallford, Grady Hallford, W. J. Hallford, Roy Hallford, Alline Morris and Arvel Hallford.

Funeral Services will be held at Crawfordville First Baptist Church, 142 Memorial Drive, Crawfordville, GA 30631 on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John Autry and Rev. Wade Palmer officiating. Serving as pallbearers are George Richards, Kermit Hocutt, Robert Wynne, Bill Morris, Charlie Taylor and Bud Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers are Alex Durham, Graham Durham, Max Edwards, Charles Greene, Robert Harold Kendrick, Gus Mayo, Joel McRay and Dr. W. H. Rhodes, Jr. The family requests that any memorials be made to Crawfordville Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Billy Woodruff, 2394 Sharon Road, Crawfordville, GA 30631. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday night at Callaway Funeral Home. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
