Wesley Price Obituary

Wesley Douglas Price, age 77, of White Plains, GA, died on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at his home. Mr. Price was born in the family home in the Macedonia Community on June 1, 1930 to the late James Grayford Price and Ethel Lee Bell Price. As a child he attended school in Maxeys and went to Greensboro High School. He married Thelma Hensley in 1950. For a few years they lived in Macedonia and farmed and milked cows. Later he worked at Nichols Chicken Farm. Then he opened a store in White Plains, leasing it from Stewart Oil Company on December 6, 1961. In 1987 Mr. Price along with his wife Thelma and son David, built a new store and continued to operate a business in White Plains for a total of forty-six years. Puny, as he was known by his many friends, was like a fixture at the store. You never went to White Plains that you didn''t think of Price''s Service Station. It was the community''s place to congregate and have a good time with good friends. He was the first fire chief in White Plains serving for ten years, a member of the city council and the city clerk for twenty-six years. Mr. Price was a faithful member and deacon of White Plains Baptist Church. In 2007 he received deacon emeritus. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle whose family was his life.

In addition to his wife of nearly fifty-eight years, Thelma Hensley Price, of White Plains, GA, he is survived by two daughters, Kathryn P. Graham and husband Thomas of Nicholson, GA and Donna P. Moore and husband Ike of White Plains, GA; a son, David Price and wife Jeannie of White Plains, GA; four sisters, Hollis Bradley of Augusta, GA, Doris Van Eck and husband Phil of Union Point, GA, Joann Huff and husband Russell of Bogart, GA and Carolyn Marie Dawson of Union Point, GA; four brothers, James Price and wife Clyde of Union Point, GA, Harvey Lee Price and wife Darlene of Greensboro, GA, David Wayne Price and wife Joan of Union Point, GA and Dewitt Price and wife Leila of Commerce, GA; five grandchildren, Isaac Moore of White Plains, GA, Rachel Moore Ortlauf and husband Mike of Newnan, GA, Jennifer Price of Skykomish, WA, Holly Price of White Plains, GA and Andrew Graham of Nicholson, GA; a great grandson, Ethan Ortlauf of Newnan, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Price; an infant brother who died at birth; and a grandchild, Jesse Winslow Graham.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 4, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at White Plains Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Jamie Eley, William Coleman, Allen Askew, Wayne Taylor, Robert Deen and David Dunagan. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Wilburn Stewart, Johnny Eley, Harry Blanchard, Russell Stewart, Bob Beeland, Tommy Lewis, Tom Yearwood, Ellis Morgan and Bill Chapman. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home. The family request that any memorials be made to White Plains Baptist Church, P. O.
