Wayne Lewis, age 76, of Siloam, GA, died Thursday, November 10, 2011 at St. Mary''s Hospital in Athens, GA. A lifelong resident of Greene County, he was born October 16, 1935 to the late James David Lewis and Bradie Mae Reese Lewis. He attended school in Siloam, GA and Greensboro High School. He completed his education after joining the United States Air Force, where he served his country from 1951 to 1955. He worked on I-75 in Tifton, GA, where he met his wife, Miriam Suggs and they married in 1959. Most of his life he worked in logging and construction working for Bay Jones Construction, Loren Leach Logging and retired from Plains Logging. At one time he ran his own dump truck business.
He is survived by his wife of fifty two years, Miriam S. Lewis of Siloam, GA; three daughters, Pat L. Marchman and husband Franklin "Flee" of Greensboro, GA, Bitsy Dunagan and husband Richard of White Plains, GA and Julie Lewis and Mike Goodbread of Lake City, FL; seven grandchildren, Lee Marchman, Jessie Rhodes and husband Jamie, Ashley Leach and husband Brian, Trey Dunagan, Mimi Dunagan, Damien Lewis and Courtney Lewis; one great grandchild, Ashton Leach; a brother, James David "Jimmy" Lewis, Jr. of Siloam, GA; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Siloam Cemetery, Church Street, Siloam, GA with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Wesley Lanier, Wayne Clifton, William Coleman, Loren Leach, Keith James and Ben Lanier. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning before the service at McCommons Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
