Mrs. Virginia Lewis, of Greensboro, Georgia, passed away comfortably in her sleep in the early morning of June 30, 2008. She was born in Greensboro, Georgia, to the late Reba Wood Torbert and Samuel Alden Torbert on November 10, 1924. She was 84.
She received a Masters Degree from the University of Georgia. Mrs. Lewis retired as a high school counselor/teacher after 30 years of service in the Atlanta Public School system. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Greensboro, GA.
Mrs. Lewis will be remembered for her great sense of humor and she was loved by many members of the Greensboro community. She was a great mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by her son, Fred L. McCord, Jr., her granddaughter Meaghan Torbert McCord, her stepson, James Lewis, Jr., daughter-in-law Joy LeCraw and sister Milly Torbert Grove of Houston, Texas.

Graveside services will commence at 7:00 pm Thursday, July 3, at the Torbert family plot in the Greensboro City Cemetery - Greensboro, Georgia.
