Virginia Walker Brook

Virginia Walker Brook of Greensboro, GA, died Saturday, October 25, 2014 at High Shoals Health and Rehabilitation in High Shoals, GA.  She was 96.  Born in Eatonton, GA on June 29, 1918, she was the daughter of the late James Edgar Walker and Julia Mason Walker.  She graduated from Greensboro High School.  For a number of years she worked for Wayne Poultry Egg Terminal grading eggs.  She was a faithful member of West End Baptist Church of Greensboro, where she sang in the choir and participated in many church activities. Virginia loved arranging and growing flowers, sharing her cooking with family and friends and walking were some of her many interests.  When she was younger she and her husband enjoyed camping.

She was preceded in death by her husband Garland R. Brook; and siblings, James Elmer Walker, Marion Askew and Alphonzo Walker.  She is survived by her children, Larry Brook and wife Janet of Milton, FL, Linda McLeroy and husband Pierce of Stone Mountain, GA, Jimmy Brook and wife Hannah of Las Vegas, NV, Julie Hatcher and husband Dave of Watkinsville, GA, and Michael Brook of Greensboro, GA; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 9 great, great grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held, Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of the Nations Assembly of God, 8780 Macon Highway, Athens, GA 30606 with Pastor Mel Holmes officiating.  The family requests that any memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association - Georgia Chapter, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite, 550, Atlanta, GA 30346.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
