Vickie Lynn Evert Portwood, 60, of Greensboro, GA died on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Athens Regional Medical Center. A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Vickie was born on February 12, 1951 to the late Robert Lee Evert and Janet Roller Evert. She graduated from Brownsburg High School in Indiana in 1969 and attended Ball State University for two years. She married Charles Allen "Charlie" Portwood on February 12, 1971. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening and especially her grandchildren. She was also a golfer and member of the Womens Golf Association at Reynolds Plantation. They had lived at Reynolds Plantation since March of 2000.
In addition to her husband, Charlie Portwood of Greensboro, GA, she is survived by three daughters, Brooke Campbell and husband Don of Anchorage, AK, Emie Rigelman and husband Tony of Peachtree City, GA and Sarah Portwood of Philadelphia, PA; a sister, Donna Holtz of Indianapolis, IN; five grandchildren, Anna Campbell, Grace Campbell, Libby Rigelman, Victoria Campbell and Maddie Rigelman; as well as a number of other relatives, golfing buddies and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church South Campus, 4741 Carey Station Road, Greensboro, GA with the Rev. Joe Watson officiating. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Atlanta Affiliate, 4840 Roswell Road, Building D, Suite 100, Atlanta, GA 30342.
