Verna Nunn Obituary

Verna Mae Hunter Nunn, age 94, died Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Greene Point Health & Rehab in Union Point. Verna Mae was born October 22, 1918 in Taliaferro County, Georgia. She was the daughter of Mitchell Vernon Hunter and Celia Ann Hendricks Hunter. She attended school at Raytown and Sharon. On November 13, 1936 at the age of 18 she married Jesse Roland Nunn, Jr. During her career, she worked as a seamstress for Royal Manufacturing Company in Crawfordville, Garland Manufacturing in Warren County and Siloam Manufacturing in Siloam. She later worked as a waitress at Reese''s Truck Stop on the interstate in Crawfordville. She was a member of Margaret''s Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse R. Nunn, Jr.; brother, John A. Reese; sister, Hazel R. Davis and stepdaughter; Doris Nunn Reese. She is survived by a stepdaughter, Thelma N. Neal of Crawfordville; brother, Babe Reese of Crawfordville, GA; two sisters, Mamie Lucinda Higdon of Boneville, GA and Rosa Lee Wentz of Lithia Springs, GA; four grandchildren, Ray Neal (Brenda) of Jackson, GA, Ellen N. Kinnon (Larry) of Social Circle, GA, Johnny Reese (Susan) of Camak, GA and Barbara R. O''Neal (Terry) of Siloam, GA; eight great grandchildren: Larry, Melissa, Brandy, Brittany, Jay, Diane, Angie and T.J.; and 14 great, great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2013 2:00 p.m. at Callaway Funeral Home Chapel in Union Point with Rev. James Bowen officiating. Burial will follow at Crawfordville Baptist Church Cemetery, 142 Memorial Drive, Crawfordville, GA 30631. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday night at Callaway Funeral Home. The family requests that any memorials be made to charity of your choice.
