Verma Ella Cook Channell Crane, age 98, of Greensboro, GA, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at her granddaughter''s home in the Macedonia Community where she had lived for the last ten years. Born in Siloam, GA on May 18, 1912, she was one of ten children born to the late Girdy D. Cook and Thula Maude Brewer Cook. Verma grew up and attended school in Siloam. For many years she worked at Mary Leila Cotton Mill as a spinner and was a homemaker. Mrs. Crane was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro.
Verma was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert Thomas Channell and her second husband William T. Crane; a daughter, Effie Channell Russell; two sons, Morris Channell and Samuel Thomas Channell; a grandson, G. F. Baggett; and siblings, May Bell Horton, Julia Moon, Florence Frazier, Bernice Branyan, L. H. Cook, Walter Cook, George Cook, Herd Cook and Omer Cook, Sr. She is survived by five granddaughters, Ramona Ross and husband Charles of Fremont, CA, Cathy Baggett and husband Frank of Union Point, GA, Laura Harcrow and husband Lanier of Covington, GA, Lynn Snipes and husband Danny of Greensboro, GA and Lacie Manning and husband David of St. Charles, IL; four great grandchildren, Laurie Carter, Christopher Simons, Daniel Baggett and Mason Manning; and two great great grandchildren, Bryce Carter and Kane Simons; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Chapel with Chaplain Carol Fletcher officiating.
