Toombs DuBose Lewis, Sr., age 79, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Thursday, May 8, 2003 at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital. A native of Greene County, he was born January 20, 1924 to the late Miles Walker Lewis and Mattie Wilson DuBose Lewis. He graduated from Greensboro High School and in 1950 from the University of Georgia School of Forestry. During World War II he served in the Marine Corp Air Wing. In 1977 he retired as a forester from Union Camp. He had lived in Greensboro for the last seven years and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer.
Survivors include his wife, Belle Huey Lewis of Greensboro, GA; a son, Toombs D. Lewis, Jr. of Watkinsville, GA; four grandchildren, Cindy L. Kauserud, Ginny L. Menzi, Robert Lewis and William Lewis and two great-grandchildren, Ella Menzi and Kristian Kauserud.
Services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2003 at 4:00 p.m. at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer with the Rev. Dr. John Via, Vicar officiating. Interment will follow at Greensboro City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are James Smith, Earl Priegel, Prince Parrish, Bolling DuBose, E. B. Baugh and John Huey. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Greensboro, Georgia 30642. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
