Jack Anthony “Tony” Ferland, age 73, of Reynolds Landing on Lake Oconee in Greensboro, GA, died Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Gentiva Hospice IPU in Athens, GA. Tony was born in Atlanta, GA on October 2, 1941 to the late Gaspard Jack Ferland and Dorothy Newton Ferland. He did his undergraduate studies from Emory University and went on to earn a second Degree in Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech. He proudly served his country in the Army Corp of Engineers. Tony was a Civil Engineer and owned and operated Soil Testing Services, Inc. for over twenty-five years retiring in 2000. He married the former Vivian Anne Cooper on January 8, 2000 and soon afterwards retired to Reynolds Landing on Lake Oconee in Greensboro, GA from Atlanta, GA. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro where he served as an Elder and was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. His many interest included classical music, traveling, and history in general, but especially the Civil War History.
In addition to his wife of fifteen years, Vivian Anne Ferland of Greensboro, GA, he is survived by three stepdaughters, Angie Webster and husband Ted of Lawrenceville, GA, Sherri Palmer and husband John of Warner Robins, GA and Sheila Marion and husband Robbie of Lawrenceville, GA; eight grandchildren, Scott Palmer, Alexandra Marion, James Palmer, Tyler Webster, Nicholas Marion, Matthew Marion, Craig Palmer (Katy), and Kim Palmer Adams (Kevin); six great grandchildren, Coleton Adams, Zachary Adams, Maxwell Adams, Haley Palmer, John Franklin Palmer, and CJ Palmer; other relatives and many friends.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 117 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA with Rev. Dr. James Choomack officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception at the church following the service.
