Thomas Judson “Tom” Channell
Thomas Judson “Tom” Channell, age 81, of Greensboro, GA, died on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Greene Point Health Care & Rehabilitation. Born December 11, 1933 in White Plains, GA, he was the son of the late James Marvin Channell and Rubye Chapman Channell. Tom attended school at White Plains and graduated from Greensboro High School. He served his country in the United States Army. On September 19, 1954, he married the former Martha Lee “Mot” Marchman. Tom worked for L.Y. Kenimer Grocery, Channell Grocery and eventually opened and ran Channell Carpet Sales for over 35 years. The things he enjoyed most were fishing, woodworking, carpentry and being with family and friends.
He is survived by a brother, James Rayford “Ray” Channell, Sr. and his wife Martha of Conyers, GA; two nieces, Theresa Channell Ray and her husband Dan of Conyers, GA and their children Meredith Ray of Memphis, TN and Brittany Ray Norton and her husband Allen and their children Macie and Mason of Monroe, GA, and Jane Channell Davis and her husband Clint of Conyers, GA and their children Cody Davis of Conyers, GA and Joshua Davis and his wife Tanya of Loganville, GA; nephews, Wesley Byce of Newnan, GA, Brian Marchman and his wife Cindi and their daughter Alexandria of Charleston, SC, and James Rayford “Ray” Channell, Jr. of Conyers, GA.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel in Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. John Pike officiating. Interment will follow in the Siloam Cemetery, Church Street, Siloam, GA 30665. Serving as pallbearers are Wesley Byce, Ray Channell, Jr., Clint Davis, Cody Davis, Joshua Davis, Allen Norton, Dan Ray, J Boswell and John Boswell. Serving as Honorary pallbearers are Andrew Boswell, Ben “Hot” Boswell, and Billy Callaway. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home.
