Thelma Rebecca (Nunn) Neal

Thelma Rebecca Nunn Neal, age 91, of Covington, GA, previously of Crawfordville, GA died Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Benton House of Covington. She was born September 7, 1928 in Crawfordville, GA. She was one of two girls born to the late Jesse R. Nunn, Jr. and Annie Stewart Nunn. Her mother passed away when she was three months old so she was raised by her stepmother, Verna Mae Nunn. She graduated from Alexander Stephens Institute in Crawfordville and married Billy Franklin Neal on December 4, 1948. Thelma worked as a seamstress for Royal Manufacturing and also a clerk for Ellingtons. She was a member of Margarets Grove Baptist Church in Crawfordville.  She was well known for her homemade cakes and also made beautiful quilts.
 
In addition to her mother and father, Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Neal; her step-mother, Verna Mae Nunn; and sister Doris Reese. She is survived by a daughter Ellen Kinnon (Larry) of Social Circle, GA; a son, Thomas Ray Neal (Brenda) of Jackson, GA; 4 grandchildren, Larry Kinnon, Jr (Jennifer), Brandy Staton (Eric), Melissa Kinnon and Brittany Anderson (Jeff); 9 great grandchildren, Caylee Kinnon, Trinity Cofer (Adam), Zachary Kinnon, Hunter Staton, Hannah Staton, Eli Staton, Olivia Anderson, Evan Anderson and Caroline Rebecca Anderson; and many other relatives and friends.
 
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Margarets Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 1791 Margarets Grove Road, Crawfordville, GA 30631 with Lamar Nix officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Callaway Funeral Home in Union Point, GA.
