Syble Bramlett Lord

Syble Bramlett Lord, age 84, of Athens, Georgia, formerly of Union Point, GA, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Born in Jackson County, on July 30, 1925, she was one of twelve children born to the late James Corbett Bramlett and Ettie Maude Sailors Bramlett. Syble was a graduate of Woodville High School, where she excelled in basketball. For many years, she and her husband, John Lord, were the owner and operator of Lord''s Supermarket in Union Point and after retiring they worked together upholstering furniture. She was also a talented seamstress and made custom drapes. Fishing, especially in Florida, travelling, reading and sewing were some of the things she enjoyed the most. She was a member of Woodville Baptist Church, the Rosie Riveter Group and captain of her bowling team.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Lord, Jr. in December of 1990; and siblings, William Bramlett, James Alton Bramlett, Clifford Bramlett, Dewey Bramlett, Willard Bramlett and Robert "Bobby" Bramlett. She is survived by two daughters, Judy McDonald and husband Tommy "Mac" of Athens, GA and Joyce Hawk and husband Robert "Buddy" of Manchester, GA; two sons, John Lord and wife Mary of Watkinsville, GA and Dennis Lord and wife Lindy of Orlando, FL; three sisters, Virginia Huff of Debary, FL, Evelyn Lyle of Watkinsville, GA and Mary Alice Gilbert of Bostwick, GA; two brothers, Sidney Bramlett of Ocala, FL and Dewitt Bramlett of Woodville, GA; grandchildren, Terry Gilbert, Julie Rister, Paul Hawk, Hollie (Duane) Higdon, Rodney (Traci) McDonald, Monica (Dan) Marchildon, Crystal (Chris) Bolen, Shannon (Steve) Tuttle, Gretchen (Brad) Burton and Jonathon Lord; great grandchildren, Sydney Rister, Mary Grace Gilbert, Zachary Gilbert, Abbi McDonald, J. T. McDonald and William McDonald "Mac" Bolen; a good friend, Will Lindell; and many other friends and relatives.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Woodville Baptist Church, 1191 Peachtree Avenue, Woodville, GA 30669 with Rev. Farrett Boswell officiating. Interment will follow at the Woodville Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Rodney McDonald, Russ Gilbert, Jonathan Lord, Dan Marchildon, Chris Bolen, Dwayne Higdon and Paul Hawk.
